Came to the USA on April 29, 1902, aboard the Kronsprinz Wilhelm and settled in Chicago, IL. He told his family that his parents back in Germany thought one of their sons should become a priest, and he was the one. Instead he left for America and converted to Protestantism.

Alfons was hired to work in a dairy, became a foreman and was eventually promoted to manager. During the 1930s he and his family moved to Galveston, TX where he owned Beach Dairy. He returned to Chicago, eventually becoming an independent insurance and real estate agent.

Loving husband and father (daughters Marion Uttenweiler Dinelli, Martha Uttenweiler Hardy; sons William and Herman).
