Marguerite D. "Peg" Brockelhurst

Peg left us May 26,2013. She was born in San Jose Hospital on April 20, 1931 to parents Sam and Marion McVey. As the Great Depression deepened, the family weathered wage -cuts and layoffs, leading to a move to a farm outside of Fresno. A sister's arrival making them a family of four, they settled in Merced CA, where she graduated with honors, from Merced High in 1949. She was employed by Merced County when Peg met, fell in love with and married Richard "Rich" Brockelhurst, then an Air Force fireman stationed at nearby Castle AFB.

She was an avid walker and became a familiar figure in the Lakeview - Waller Park area, wearing headphones while on her long mid-day walks. When Rich was stricken by a crippling neurological disease, she cared for him at home until his passing. She is greatly missed by her four children, their spouses and her four grandchildren. Per her request, no services are planned.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.
