Ella is a daughter of Franz Fredrick Rudolph and Anna Amelia Begandt. She is fifth of eight children. The family moved from Nebraska and established the Rudolph Ranch in the Teton Basin of Idaho.

Ella married Emory Gilbert Adams on August 20, 1899. They became the parents of three children: Evelene, Frank, and Frances. Ella and Emory later divorced and she went to live with her son, Frank, in California.

When she died in California, they brought her back to Idaho and buried her on the Rudolph ranch.
