Kathleen Marie Remster Barros
1958 ~ 2016
Kathy entered this life September 1, 1958 at Cheyenne Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming, born to Pete and Delores Remster of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She began her new life at noon on September 18, 2016 at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, after fighting a valiant battle against complications of heart disease. Kathy made her own final arrangements with a clear mind, just as she made all of her decisions. Her decision to accept Christ as her Savior influenced all areas of her life.

Kathy was the loving wife of Donald L. Barros of Boise, Idaho. They were married September 19, 1992 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Kathy was blessed with her son, Andrew Brauer III of Atascadero, California, from her first marriage.

Kathy graduated from Cheyenne East High School in 1976, and attended Laramie County Community College. She went on to work as the Corporations Clerk for Wyoming Secretary of State Thyra Thompson, and later as Deputy County Treasurer of Washoe County, Nevada. She was most recently employed by Citi Group in Boise, Idaho.

Kathy was a gifted musician, sitting as first chair violist in her statewide high school orchestra, and later was a member of the Reno City Symphony Orchestra.

Kathy and her husband Don enjoyed camping in the great outdoors of Idaho. She loved her pets as she loved all animals, and she enjoyed reading genealogy and Civil War History of her family. She also enjoyed the yearly Renaissance Festival with her sister Karen, in Arizona.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Don Barros of Boise, Idaho; her son, Andrew Brauer III of Atascadero, California; her granddaughter, Ashollie Brauer of Nampa, Idaho; her parents, H.E. "Pete" and Delores Remster of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and her sister, Karen Remster of Prescott, Arizona.

Kathy chose cremation, and celebrations of her life will be held in both Boise, Idaho and Cheyenne, Wyoming at a future time. Her family would like to gratefully acknowledge the excellent care and loving compassion provided by the University of Utah Hospital doctors, nurses and staff.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Leavitt's Mortuary of Ogden, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy's memory may be made to your local animal shelter.
