AGED WESTPORT MAN MAKES FUTILE ATTEMPT AT SUICIDE

Charles Blongy, 80, of Westport, who had been despondent since the death of his wife a year ago and who complained of severe headaches, attempted to end his life Thursday with a .22 calibre rifle. The aged man placed the weapon under his chin and pulled the trigger. The bullet shattered his face and imbedded itself in the ceiling of his bedroom. Sergeant M. F. Lefeve and Trooper, Thomas Baker of the Elizabethtown patrol brought Blongy to the Community House at Elizabethtown, where attending physicians believe he will completely recover, despite his advanced age and the severity of the wound. Blongy, it was learned by the troopers, attempted to end his life several months ago by swallowing poison.
