The Following information came from a book "The Descendents of Jean Monty" by Jeanne R. Monty (2 Vols.)
Harriet Monty and Julius Blungy were both 23 years of age in 1850. They had been born in Clinton County, New York and had come to Essex, New York, she in 1841 and he in 1847.
Julius Blungy, a farmer in civilian life, was a private in the Union Army in 1865 and a laborer in Ticonderoga, New York in 1880 (US and state censusues). He was originally named Julien or Julian Belanger, as recorded in the French-language church where his children were bapitized. The Belanger and Monty families had long been neighbors in Chazy, New York. They were both descended from Canadian veterans of the American Revolution.
