Maggie Irene Metcalf Smith, 84, Burley, died Sunday (2 Feb 1969) at the Cassia Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

She was born Oct 26, 1884 at Hyde park, Utah, the daughter of William David and Mary Eliza Hancey Metcalf. She attended school at Iona, Idaho.

She was married to Heber J. Bailey in 1902 and he proceded her in death in 1903. She later married Victor J. Smith on March 27, 1909 at Blackfoot.

They came to Burley shortly after their marriage and homesteaded 80 acres 10 miles southeast of Burley, where they have since resided.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1959.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the LDS Church, serving as secretary in the YWMIA and Sunday School. She was also active in the PTA, and had served as a captain of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by her husband of Burley; five daughters, Mrs. Marion (Iona) Goold, and Mrs. Floyd (Fae) Larson, both Burley; Mrs. Glenn (Marie) Warren, Espart, Calf., Mrs. Trent (Sylvia) Baker, Blackfoot, and Mrs. Robert (Nelda) Lowder, Rupert; a brother George Metcalf, Shelley; two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Ida) Webb, and Mrs Frank (Ivy) Morris, both of Ucon, Idaho; and 34 grandchildren, 48 great grand children, and 4 great grand children. Two daughters preceded her in death.
