Charlie Alvin Boothe, 63, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006 in Charleston, West Virginia. He was born In McDowell County, W. Va., but grew up in Tazewell County, Va. and attended Pocahontas High School. He was a former resident of Goochland, Va. where he was employed by Beaumont Learning Center as a Cottage Manager.

He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association No. 759 "New Spirit Riders" and a member of Dry Branch Community Church in Charleston. Chuck was owner operator of a tractor trailer and traveled extensively throughout the United States for his business. He was a veteran and served his country in the US Army.

Chuck was married at a young age (May 22, 1964) in Bluefield, Va. to Linda Sue Shrader. From that union, he has two children, Carl Edward Boothe and Melissa Gaye Boothe Roberts VanDyke. He also has a grandson, Stephen Christopher Boothe. Later in life, he was traveling in West Virginia when a friend introduced him to Monta Rae Hartwell Ward. Chuck and Monta were married on December 26, 1984. There were no children from this union. Chuck did inherit a good buddy and friend from this marriage, Roger Hartwell, Monta's brother.

Chuck was the son of William Edward and Bessie Frances Salyers Boothe. He was one of ten children.

There's a lot that can be said about Chuck, but probably what he would like best is that he was an adventurer. He was constantly looking for what was beyond the next hill and what would happen in the next adventure. He was an avid supporter of the Boothe-Salyers Reunion held in Marion, Va. the Sunday before Labor Day each year. He was the hit of the crowd with the tales of his adventures. He was always ready to show off his motorcycle and talk of his travels "on the road" in his trucking business or on his bike. His greatest adventure was finding Christ. The last months of his life brought much pain and suffering, but he was excited about the anticipation of his next adventure in Heaven.

At Chuck's request, his body was donated to Marshall University of Science in Huntington, W. Va. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Dry Branch Community Church. Members of the Christian Motorcycle No. 759 served as the choir and his special friend, Don, sang the song Chuck had requested, "I am a winner either way."

Chuck is missed by his family and friends, but we are all sure that Heaven has not been the same since he arrived!
