While working as an Office Manager at Willimantic Thread Co. during the Great Depression, her job was relocated to East Stroudsberg, PA, and she followed. She met her future husband, James Andrews, there at a dance. James and Winnie moved around from between Stroudsburg, Mount Upton NY and Poughkeepsie NY, during which time their two daughters were born.
James and Winnie eventually settled in Middlesex, in the Finger Lakes, where they started a family business with friends. Winnie was the Office Manager of the business, an egg packing plant, situated directly behind their home. Winnie and James would commute to work on foot, by cutting through the gate in the grapevine lining the back of their property.
Her daughter Marilyn Andrews Ewell predeceased her. In addition to her daughter Carol and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Winnie was survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Middlesex Methodist Church.
Arrangements C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home, Ridgewood.
