Alanna lived in several cities; Seattle, Albuquerque, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and finally Portland, Oregon, where she died. She left friends in all of those cities and all are feeling her loss. She finally moved to Portland, Oregon in 2005 with her sister Rosemary, and was able to retire and enjoy the wildlife of this wonderful city, as well as the constant companionship of her beloved cats and her sister. Alanna said the last years of her life in Portland were the happiest of her life, and she loved her home and her life. Alanna was a kind, giving, caring, loving person and everyone who was touched by her gentle spirit will never forget her.
Alanna was an accomplished needle worker who loved to do intricate cross stitch patterns that would vex the most patient of people. She relished doing the small intricate needlework on special pieces. She spoke french beautifully and had an encyclopedic knowledge of Hollywood, Broadway and television actors, actresses, writers and directors and technical personnel. Alanna had a razor sharp mind and a wonderful wit and gentleness that were loved by all of her friends and family. Alanna loved animals of all kinds and rescued many cats that were fortunate to be loved by her. We were all fortunate to have been loved by her.
Alanna worked at Sony Pictures/Columbia Pictures for many years as a Television Syndication Contracts Administrator, helping to draft the legal language for many of the very intricate contracts required in that field. She also worked as a legal secretary for the City of Dallas, and worked for various legal, insurance and temporary secretarial firms in both Los Angeles and San Francisco. She was a great employee and helpful to everyone she worked with.
Alanna was preceded in death by her father, Malcolm W. Anderson (1921-1997), her mother, Shirley E. Anderson (1919-1999) and her brother, Michael M. Anderson (1952-1999). She is survived by her sisters Rosemary Anderson of Rio Rancho, NM and Karen L. Breeding of Leander, Texas, her nieces Mary Yellot of Leander, Texas and Bridget Galbadon of Albuquerque, New Mexico, her nephews Sean and Patrick Breeding of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Alanna's ashes were finally laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetary in Albuquerque, NM, on December 11, 2018, just a few yards away from her parents. May you always rest in peace, big sister.
