Spec. 4 Raymond Lee Pirrman, of 1331 Peerless Court, was killed "while driving a military vehicle when encountered by a hostile force," according to an official telegram to his mother, Mrs. Rose Pirrman.
Pirrman, who attended Flaget High School, was previously wounded while trying to aid a wounded buddy. Pirrman's efforts failed, but he was awarded the Bronze Star as a result of his actions.
Before entering the Army last July, Pirrman was employed by the Smith Transfer Company. He had been in South Vietnam since February.
Other survivors include two brothers, Martin and Robert Pirrman.
On arrival from Vietnam, the body will be at the Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 1201 E. Oak.
