Kooiker, Jr., Nick 1/7/1932 - 9/18/2016 Ft. Myers, FL Nick Kooiker, Jr., 84, of N. Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of Hudsonville, MI, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2016. He was born January 7, 1932 to Nick and Alice Kooiker and resided most of his life in Hudsonville, MI. He worked 53 years of his life as a union carpenter and served our country in the U.S. Navy as Seaman Recruit USNR-R. He was a member of the American Legion Post 179, the Moose, and happily volunteered for the Hudsonville Community Fair for many years. His family was his heart. His extraordinary memory of past times were joyously shared with loved ones along with his hilarious one-liners. Nick is survived by his wife, Sharon of N. Ft. Myers, FL, children Nick C. (Joyce), Rick (Robyn), Jerry (Georgi), Lori (John) Meaney, Alyce (Gary) Rivera, John Rivera, stepchildren Jerilynn Alward, Michael (Misty) and Brian (Jennifer Dieter) Davis, 27 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws Donna M., Donna A., and Elaine Kooiker. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children Delores Kooiker, parents Nick and Alice Kooiker, daughter Debbie Rivera, grandson Shawn Rivera, siblings Henry (Agnes) and Hilbert Kooiker, Faye (John) Gort, Jennie (Earl) Newenhouse, Hilbert Kooiker, Alberdean (Jim) Berkenpas, Herman and Alvin Kooiker. The Family will receive friends on October 7, 2016 at the Georgetown United Methodist Church 2766 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI at 10am. A Memorial Service will follow at 11am with Rev. Jennie Browne officiating. Burial will take place in the Georgetown Twp. Cemetery following a luncheon.
