She was the wife of the late Sterling "Bud" H. Bankert, Jr.
Anna was born in York on July 12, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Gerald and Laura (Smeltzer) Bury.
Anna graduated from William Penn Senior High School, Class of 1949. She was an employee at the family owned and operated Bury's Restaurant and was also a retail associate at Jack's in York. She was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church. Anna enjoyed gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by a son, Steven Bankert and his wife, Jill Fleming of Great Barrington, Mass.; a daughter, Teri Blevins of York; a granddaughter, Laura Blevins and her fiancé, Gary Urban of York; two brothers, Charles Bury of Lancaster and John Bury of York; and her best friend, Nittany. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Gerald, and Joseph Bury.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with the Rev. Dr. Eddie D.D. Miller and Anna's nephew, Joe Bury, officiating. There will be a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the York County Library System Development Office, 159 E. Market St., York, PA 17401; or to the York County Food Bank, 254 W. Princess St., York, PA 17401.
