Jean Marie Squires,93, of Blackfoot, passed away peacefully October 3, 1016.

She was born on July 18, 1923, to Zirrill and Bertha Hipke of Pocatello, Idaho She was an only child, but loved her parents and also enjoyed playing with the children that arrived with their parents on the train. This might have led to her love of trains.

Jean graduated from Pocatello High School and went on to work for the City of Pocatello as a secretary.

In November of 1972, Jean married Ray James Squires. They enjoyed 32 years together as they went to Yard Sales, Estate Sales and collected old cars and antiques.
Jean also had an admiration of past movie stars and enjoyed collecting pictures and tidbits about them.

Jean had a great love for animals, big or small. Throughout her life she fed, cared for and was concerned for the welfare of animals. At times is seemed that she fed every cat in the neighborhood. She contributed much to Animal Charities and dearly loved her own pets and was so kind-hearted to any animal in need.

Jean had a heart of gold; always welcoming a friend for a visit and was described by her friends as sweet and caring.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon for family and friends at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., in Blackfoot. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Sugar City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at:
