Irma (Cox) Karber, 87, of Tucson, Ariz., died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001 at Tucson Medical Center.
She was born May 29, 1914 in Ridgway to John E. and Elizabeth J. (Bruce) Cox. She graduated from Ridgway High School and attended Mac Murray College for Women in Jacksonville. On Aug. 16, 1935, she married James W. Karber, who was attending U. of I. law school. They moved back to Ridgway, where she was a charter member of Ridgway Women's Club, a member of Homemakers Extension Association, was active in the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. Irma moved to Tucson in 1993.
Irma has been a member of Ridgway Presbyterian, Ridgway Methodist, and at present New Hope General Baptist Church. Services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in the chapel at villa Campana Retirement Residence 6653 E. Carondelet drive, Tucson, Ariz. The pastor John B. Aker of Christ Community Church will officiate. Other services will be at a later date at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Tom) Purvis; grandchildren Gordon (Denise) Purvis, Tucson, Ariz.; Belinda Purvis, Boise, Idaho; great-grandchildren Zachary Morgan, Boise, Idaho; Randy, Timmy, Joshua, and Levi Purvis, Tucson, Ariz. Irma was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Loretta (Cox) Barger.
