Deleta was born June 29, 1957 in Cleburne, to Frank “Papa” Young and Helen “Mama” Pipes Young. On Aug. 13, 1983 she married Dennis Austin in the home of Rodney and Paulinda Proffitt in Granbury. They moved to Brownwood to start a family. Over the years she has worked at the Brown County Court House, as a substitute teacher with Early ISD and most recently was a longtime aide with the Early High School. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Deleta enjoyed the outdoors, and spent many hours fishing, camping, and swimming. She spent many hours crocheting blankets and creating cross-stitch pictures. She loved playing dominos, cards, and other games with family and friends. Her favorite time was when the house was full of people. In addition, she devoted much of her time to being a supportive mother of her two daughters, whether it was playing taxi, or cheering them on in their various activities. Her smile and laugh was very infectious and will be missed by all.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Austin of Early; daughters, Helen Spearman and husband Joel of Brownwood, and Felicia Durkop and husband Nick of Brownwood; sister, Paulinda Proffitt and husband Rodney of Granbury; brother, Jeff Young and wife Virginia of Cleburne; two grandchildren, Taylor Spearman and Paislee Durkop. Other family members include her step-mother, Tillie Young of Terrell; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Laverne Austin of Wichita Falls; brother-in-law, Clyde Austin of Wichita Falls; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Deleta was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother-in-law, Glen Austin.
