Staff Sgt. E. Blake Adams was a physicians assistant student at Fort Polk's Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital. He came to Hernando County with his parents, James and Brenda Adams, in 1973. Blake attended Hernando schools through the ninth grade and was a graduate of Stetson University. While in Brooksville, he was a member of the former West Jefferson Baptist Church. Blake was a staff sergeant in the United States Army assigned to the MEDDAC Student Detachment, Fort Polk, La. He was attending his final year of training as a physician's assistant and was due to be commissioned a first lieutenant upon completion of training. His honorable service included assignments in Bosnia, South Korea and a year of combat in Iraq. Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel. He was 38.
