Ray Elmer Earsley was born on October 19, 1929 to Sylvester W. Earsley and Ester (Powell) Earsley. Ray was raised and attended school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until the eighth grade. Ray then went to work to help provide for his family. When Ray was 19 he would enlist in the Marine Corps where he would serve three and half years. After leaving the service, Ray would marry and have three children with his wife. Ray then moved to Montana where he worked on the Terrett Ranch from 1966-1983. In 1984 Ray would go to work at the Range Riders Bar where he cooked and shined boots. Ray became well known for his knowledge of leather care. Ray would then go to work at the Trails Inn where he continued to shine boots and began to repair cue sticks.

Ray enjoyed fishing and being around his close family and friends.

Ray is survived by his daughter, MaryAlice Goetzinger; two sons, long time friend Pat Niles; three sisters; two brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
