YAKIMA — Alice L. Bordeaux, 91, 3905 Knobel Ave., Yakima, died Friday afternoon August 7 in Summitview Manor Living Care Center.

Mrs. Bordeaux was born March 2, 1896 in Middleburg, Iowa to Dirk and Aaltje(Zwier) Swier. She came west with her family, seven sisters and three brothers on March 2, 1901 and settled in north Yakima. She attended school at the Holland Settlement in Moxee and graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1916. An Army veteran, Mrs. Bordeaux served in World War I as a Red Cross Nurse until being transferred to Fort Lewis and later to Whipple Barracks, Arizona. She married Clarence J. Bordeaux in 1921. He was one of four official stenographers to write up the Peace Treaty of Versailles. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Golden Circle, Ruth Circle, the Salvation Army Home League and the Westminster sewing circle.

Survivors include a son, Ben Bordeaux of Yakima, two grandchildren, Brian Bordeaux and Cindy Bordeaux both of Yakima, a brother, Ben Swier of Yakima.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence J. Bordeaux in 1957, by a son, Bob Bordeaux, nine sisters and two brothers.
