Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna (Gzurko) Matcho. He was educated in Wilkes-Barre area schools and attended Coughlin High School.
Until his retirement, he was a shipping manager Allegheny Distributors for five years. He previously worked as a coal miner and for the Anthracite Supply Co. for several years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart/St. John's Parish Community of North Wilkes-Barre; a former member of the North End Slovak Citizen's Club, Wilkes-Barre; and various area bowling leagues.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; son, James; and brothers, Michael, Joseph and Frank.
Surviving are his daughters, Mildred Williams, Forked River, N.J.; and Lorraine Pryor, Wilkes-Barre; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, George Machoe, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Mary Masters, Northfield, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
