C. T. "Sonny" Beckel, age 94 of St. Peter and formerly of LeSueur died on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Benedictine Living Center in St. Peter. He was born on December 24, 1921 at St. Henry, Minnesota to John T. and Catherine Barbara (Beer) Beckel. Sonny married Annette Lammers on October 8, 1946 at St. Anne's Church in LeSueur. He farmed in Lake Prairie Township in Nicollet County and also worked as an upholsterer at the St. Peter State Hospital for many years, retiring to LeSueur in 1989. In his retirement years they enjoyed traveling to Texas in the winter. Sonny enjoyed time spent with family and friends playing cards, shaking dice, golfing and dancing. He had a creative side doing wood working, painting, hobbies and loved spending time in his garden. C.T. enjoyed his many years of membership at St. Anne's Church and the friends and fellowship received. One of his greatest gifts, that everyone enjoyed, was his wit and humor. He was a founding member of the Dr. LeClerc Council of the Knights of Columbus and then became a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Thank you to the Benedictine Senior Living Community staff and Mayo Health System Hospice for their special care and attentiveness of our father during these final weeks.
