Samuel James Farver was the son of Jacob W Farver (1804 - 1883) and Rachel Draminta Pegg (1806-1870). He was born 13 August 1841 in Jackson, Columbia, County, PA. He died 14 November 1904 in Danville, Mountour County, PA.

Samuel Farver served as a soldier during the war between the states. He was a Private in Heavy Artillery Company F of the 112th Regiment of the State of Pennsylvania from 1862-1864. In 1864 he transferred to Veterans Reserve Corps. On 29 May 1890 he married Hattie Young, widow of Ziegler. Two months later, on 30 July 1890, a Pension as Invalid Soldier application was filed on his behalf. He died in 1904 about a year after being institutionalized on the request on his family.Within 14 days of his death, Hattie applied for a Pension as this soldier's widow.
