Beverly Kay Higgins ,71, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Mosaic Life care in St. Joseph, MO. She was born April 16, 1945 in St. Louis to Allen and Verneil Hazeltine. She married Thomas P. Higgins in Gulf Shores Alabama in 1985 and he preceded her in death in October of 2013.
Beverly was the anchor and caretaker of her family which she loved. She also enjoyed dancing with her late husband Tom.
She is survived by two sons, Darin (Terry) Smith and James Higgins both of St. Joseph; one daughter, Lorri Smith of St. Louis; two brothers, Gary (Katherine) Hazeltine of Kansas City, KS, and Mark (Mary Kay) Hazeltine of St. Louis; one sister, Judy Mercer of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Joann Smith, Fantashia Smith, and Aidan Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Tom.
Services will be held at 6:00PM, on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MO, with visitation prior to the service from 5:00-6:00PM, October 12, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Following the services there will be a gathering for family and friends at The Café at 4230 St. Joseph Ave.
