Donald was the devoted son of the late Alma (nee Ehrhardt) and Bernard Smith; dear brother of Kenneth B. Smith of Ft. Myers, FL; fond uncle of Susan Smith, Sheri Koch, Steven Smith, Cheryl Lindstrom, Bonnie Shippee and Laurie Barth. Donald was born June 19, 1929 in Evanston, IL and passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the Wauconda Healthcare Centre. Donald was raised in Park Ridge, where his family owned and operated Ehrhardts Picnic Grove. Donald served in the Illinois National Guard and then worked for the Park Ridge Post Office for 35 years. Funeral services will be private.
