Funeral services for Elmer Floyd Pope, 69, will be at 2 PM Thursday from the Chapel of George A Smith & Sons; Rev Boyce Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.

Mr Pope died at 12:07 AM today at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where he had been a patient for the past seven days.

He was employed by Model Milling Company for 30 years and lived at 133 Muse Street in Jackson.

Mr Pope was born and reared in Mercer, son of Mrs Georgia Tate Pope and the late William A Pope, and received his education in the Madison County Schools. He moved to McKenzie in 1938 and made his home there until moving to Jackson in 1942.

He was a member of Parkway Southern Methodist Church. On Oct 18, 1924 he married the former Martha Ann Brevard of Huntingdon, who survives.

Other than his widow and mother, survivors include: two sons, Cecil Floyd Pope of Memphis and Gilbert Brevard Pope of Jackson, TN. Three brothers: WJ Pope of Bruceton, Rev Thomas Pope of Somerville and Paul Pope of Little Rock AR.

Five sisters Mrs Elizabeth Robinson and Mrs Elsie Cain both of Mercer; Mrs Virginia Martingdale of Memphis; Mrs Birdie Smith of Dyersburg, TN and Mrs Mazie Walker of Macon, GA. He also leaves six grandchildren.

Nephews to serve as pallbearers will be Jerry Pope, Roland Pope, Rhea Martindale, Mike Smith, Kenneth Brevard and Joe B Brevard.

The body will be at the funeral home until time for services.
