Obituary for Kathleen Lucas Slofkosky
Kathleen Lucas Slofkosky (Jennings), age 67, of Knoxville, passed away on October 10, 2016, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.

Kathleen was born on November 11, 1948 to William and Mary (Ostreko) Lucas in Albia, Iowa. She grew up and attended Albia High School and graduated with the class of 1967. She then went to college in Kirksville, Missouri and obtained her teaching degree. On August 28, 1993 she was united in marriage to Paul Slofkosky at their good friends Skip and Karen Maas’s house in Oskaloosa.

Kathleen taught English at the Oskaloosa Middle School for most of her life. She also took a job as an auxiliary police officer for the city of Eddyville. She retired from teaching after 29 years. Kathleen was very talented at cross-stitching and would spend countless hours in her favorite chair relaxing and working on her newest projects. She enjoyed her flower garden and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Slofkosky of Knoxville; her two sons, Matthew (Amanda) Jennings of Oskaloosa and Graham Jennings of Des Moines; a step-son, Michael (Helen) Slofkosky and their son Brody Slofkosky of Pleasant Hill; two grandchildren, Ryon Jennings and Nicole (Andrew) Cowell; three great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Jackson Cowell and a brother, Terry (Ramona) Lucas of Omaha.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Fr. Mark Yates C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lovilia.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia prior to the service starting at 3:00.
