John Wilber Alley, of Spartanburg, SC died Wednesday, October 12, 2016.

Born in Chester, SC, son of the late Bart and Irene Ramey Alley; husband of Glenda Ewing Alley.

A devoted member of New Life Worship Center, where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent.

John retired from Waste Management, Inc.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, John is survived by his sons, Wayne Alley (Diane), Steve Alley (Wendy), Bobo Alley (Jill) all of Spartanburg; three sisters, Juanita Lucas of Lancaster, Nell Turner of Chester, and Judy Lambert of Spartanburg.

He was blessed with six grandchildren, Chris Alley, Paul Alley (Tasha), Kaycie Murph (Austin), Jennifer Harris (James), Steven Alley (Brooke), Hodge Yeargin; two great-grandchildren, Ensley and Audrey Alley.

John was predeceased by a brother, Amos Alley; two sisters, Norma Moore and Mary Douglas.

The family receiveed friends at the Dunbar Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Funeral Service was held 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at New Life Worship Center, 3548 Clifton Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC, officiated by Pastor Celeste Cathcart and Reverend Ron Rhodes. Burial followed at Pacolet Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be to New Life Worship Center, 3548 Clifton Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307 or the Spartanburg Regional Hospice House, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303
