Merlin Charles Lobb, 67, Independence, Mo., died March 23, 1990, at the Medical Center of Independence.

He was born in McLouth and lived in Independence 29 years. Mr. Lobb was a machinist for Allis-Chalmers Inc. for 28 years and retired in 1984.

He was a Mason and an Army veteran of World War II. He was in the Association of Members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Southeast Independence Branch.

Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Lobb, of the home; a son, James F. Lobb; two daughters, Donna J. Firsbey and Nancy L. Galvin, all of Independence; two brothers, James Lobb, Oskaloosa, and Marlin Lobb, Kansas City; two sisters, Irma Palmer and Fannie Botts, Kansas City; and eight grandchildren.

Services were March 26 at the Carson Independence Chapel, Independence. Graveside services were the same day in the McLouth Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church building fund or to the American Diabetes Association.
