Kitty Lou Shopteese of Commerce, OK passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was 84.
Kitty was born May 25, 1932 near Muskogee, OK to Walter and Lillian (Johnson) Emarthla.
She had lived in Commerce for 6 months moving from the Pottawattamie Reservation at Mayetta, KS.
She was a registered nurse working in Lawrence, KS and Topeka, KS and was a Nursing Teacher at the Kansas University.
She had married Al Shopteese and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents and 2 sisters Claribell McClelland and Pauline Connor.
Survivors include her son Johnny Talawyma and wife Phyllis of Lame Deer, MT, brother Walter Emarthla and wife Sandra of Miami, OK and a sister Norma Ross and husband Jack of Commerce, OK and 8 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Monday, October 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wyandotte Cemetery in Wyandotte, OK. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Rev. Geoff Buffalo will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Ok. Services have been placed in the care of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
