Verneta Schenk Gunnell, 91 passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Preston, Idaho on October 13, 2016. She was born on January 16, 1925 in College Ward Utah, the ninth of thirteen children born to John Henry Schenk and Mary Adele Anderson.

Neta graduated from South Cache High School. She met her eternal companion, J. Burke Gunnell on a blind date. They were married on Nov 13, 1949. They were the proud parents of eight children. Her entire life was centered around her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and faithfully served in many callings. Her favorite calling was serving with Burke in the nursery. They were Grandma & Grandpa to many children. Neta loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel and her family were the most important things to her and they have provided her with much joy.

She loved nutty bars, Gunsmoke, beautiful music and flowers. She loved babies and babies loved her. She loved to sit outside on her porch enjoying the beauties of nature. She loved handing out “trash” (candy) to her grandchildren. Neta was a loving, caring and giving Mother, Grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Carol) Gunnell, Mary Ann (Michael) Kelly, Noreen (Kevin) Seamons, Val (Cindy) Gunnell, Carolee (Scott) Nielson, Troy (Denise) Gunnell, Ranae (David) Turner, sister Nola (Lynn) Richards, and brother LeRoy (Margene) Schenk.

She was preceded in death by her husband Burke, an infant son Roger Burke and a great grand daughter Maliya Jade Gunnell.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 12 pm in the Cobblestone 2nd Ward chapel, 420 W 100 N, Providence. There will be a viewing that day from 10-11:30 at the church. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary.
