He worked at ALCOA Aluminum for 44 years. He enjoyed his charter membership with Chilhowee OES, the Sevier Masonic Order, the Kerbela Shriners of Knoxville, and the Scottish Rites of Knoxville. He was on the Blount County Republican Executive Committee and served as chairman of the Blount County Election commission for several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Howard Ammons, parents, James and Ethel Ammons and 8 siblings.
He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Linda and Bruce Tackes of Seymour, and many special friends and many special nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00. The family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Eusebia Cemetery for the interment service.
