John Kersbergen Dies Saturday; Services Tuesday

John A. Kersbergen, 65, of 610 E. 4th St. S., a resident of Newton for approximately 30 years, died Saturday evening at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. B. L. Payne, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to a fund in Mr. Kersbergen's name will be accepted. Memorials may be left at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

Survivors are a brother, Neil, of Wichita, Kan.; and two sisters, Mrs. William (Alice) Kool of Newton and Mrs. James (Alberta) Munson of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Merle, in July, 1975; and a brother, Gerritt.

Mr. Kersbergen, a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, had worked at the Maytag Co., and at trucking.

The son of John and Alice Sneller Kersbergen, he was born July 12, 1912 in Jasper County and was graduated from Pella Community High School.

He was married to Anna Merle Lanphier April 2, 1943 in Missouri.
