Jack Felician Trahan Jack Trahan, a retired United States Air Force Major and a truly honorable man, was born in Youngsville, Louisiana, June 3, 1920, and passed away peacefully in his sleep December 22, 2006, in the care of extended family and loving friends.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Webb Trahan; one sister, Anna Lou of Lafayette, Louisiana; and many friends.

Jack valued his unique background in south Louisiana which instilled in him respect for his Cajun culture, heartfelt regard for the small-town neighbors who exemplified the work ethic he attained, and most importantly, a love for God and a deep devotion to and love for America.

After high school in Kaplan, Louisiana, Jack joined the Army Air Corp in June 1941. As a glider pilot during World War II, he successfully completed several strategic missions in the European theater including a vital glider assignment on D-day. After the war Jack worked in Security Service on significant assignments until his retirement from the United States Air Force with rank of Major. Jack's twenty five years of service to his country were performed with utmost integrity, honor and dedication as a true gentleman and loyal American.

After his career in the service, Jack worked in the finance department of Texas Parks and Wild Life where he served for 20 years. He enjoyed this second career immensely, and served conscientiously making many friends.

Jack was a member of the University Presbyterian Church. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason who had recently attained the high honor of being a Scottish Rite Mason for fifty years.

Jack's hobbies included hunting, fishing and being outdoors with his fellow sportsmen. He relished cooking and serving delicious authentic Cajun meals to friends.

The family wishes to express appreciation to Dr. Robert O. Kerr and staff at Southwest Regional Cancer Center and the doctors and staff at Red River Family Practice.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jack's memory to Hospice Austin at 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78759; or Austin Humane Society.
