Wanda Faye Gay Sheppard was the 10th child of Henry Gay and Boyd Stout Gay, She was about 2 years old when the family moved to Oklahoma. They returned to Bakersfield in 1953. She attended schools in Bakersfield, CA, Corcoran CA, and McFarland CA. She lived in Bakersfield most of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Boyd Gay; her brothers Elmer Gene Gay, J W Gay and David Allan Gay; 2 sisters Janet Marie Gay Dresser and Mary Ann Gay Eversole.
She is survived by her 3 children, Kimberley Gail Sheppard, Stephanie Christine Sheppard and William Baxter Shofner: Three Grandchildren; Eric Wayne Joyner, Christopher Allen Sullivan and Makayla Faye Sullivan. Five great grandchildren; Thomas Keith Joyner, Gracie Lynn Joyner, and Bentley Shane Joyner also J. J, and Elaine Annafaye Sullivan.. She is also survived by 3 brothers, Leslie Edward Gay, Bruce Wayne Gay, and Vernon Earl Gay, and one sister Joyce Nanette Gay Lombardi and numerous nephews and nieces. Wanda had a very large extended family and everyone who knew her was "family". She was a kind, generous, friendly, loving person with a heart of gold. She loved singing gospel songs, spending time with her family and just enjoying life. She will be missed by all.
