Jess M. McEntee, IV went to his final resting place to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 7, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Jess was born on March 19, 1944 in Muskogee, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess M. McEntee III and Helen Bender McEntee.
He leaves behind a loving wife of 45 years, Linda Beaird McEntee, one brother and his wife, Dr. Charles William McEntee and Barbara, one daughter, Kelli McEntee.
Jess was a member of First Baptist Haughton Church and had friends who he admired at Southern Methodist Church of Haughton.
He loved visiting daily with friends at Ronnie’s Barber Shop in Haughton.
Jess was a graduate of Northeastern State in Tahlequah, OK and The University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, he spent most of his life serving the young people of our country. Jess started The Children’s Counseling Center in Shreveport, LA and Princeton, LA, a non-profit organization where he served as President and primary counselor.
Prior to this he was a teacher, administrator and counselor at various schools and colleges across the country.
His philosophy and teachings created a summer camp known as CAMP F.R.O.G. Jess’s “frog fever” taught participants to solve life’s problems by thinking positively. He came to be known as “Frog Man” teaching about F.eelings, R.esponsibility, dealing with O.thers and setting G.oals for success.
Honors include: Cited in the 8th Edition (1972) of Outstanding Young Men in America, highlighting those giving quietly and unselfishly so the quality of life may be improved and in the 1986-87 edition of Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals. Recognized in 2006 as Rural Community volunteer of the year by the Extra Mile, Region VII.
Civic and professional memberships include: Sigma Tau Gamma, Pi Gamma Mu, Rotary club, American Counseling Assn., Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, American Specialist in Group Work, National Board Certified Counselor, State of LA Licensed Professional Counselor.
