Deacon Michael J. Impellitteri, age 86, of Vose Street, Ansonia, was killed after being struck by a motor vehicle as he left a wake at the Church of the Asssumption. He was the husband of Angelina (DiMauro) Impellitteri. Born to the late Joseph Impellitteri and Mary Ella (Frawley) Impellitteri Rowley and stepson, of Joseph Rowley Sr. He retired from the City of New Haven in the Accounting Department. He also worked in the Financial Department in the City of Ansonia and Town of Seymour. A Communicant of the Church of the Assumption, graduate of the Assumption School, veteran of World War II U.S. Marine Corps retiring with the rank of major. He belonged to the Marine Corps League, Valley Detachment, Seymour, the American Legion Post 50 Ansonia and was their treasurer, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 597 Ansonia servings as trustee and chaplain, Ansonia Catholic War Veterans Ansonia as chaplin. A member of the CCC Alumni, Ansonia as president, St. Joseph Men's Club Holy Rosary Church Ansonia president and chaplin, Deacon at the Church of the Assumption Ansonia, St. Jude's Knight of Columbus , Derby as chaplin. He was also a member at the Valley YMCA.

Survivors bedsides his wife, are three daughters, Joyce Impellitteri of Ansonia, Maria and Steve Zacharko of Seymour, and Ellen and Russell Apfel of Green Cove Spring, Fla.; a son, Michael Impellitteri of Ansonia; a sister, Irma Novak of Seymour; two brothers, James Rowley of Shelton, and Joseph Rowley of Murrells Intlet, S.C.; three grandchildren, Max Zacharko, Sanford Apfel and Steven Apfel. He was predeceased by three sisters, Pauline Pergola, Marge Andrew and Evelyn Slezak; two brothers, Salvatore J. Impellitteri and William Rowley.

Calling hours were held, at his request, in the Church of the Assumption, 61 No. Cliff Street, Ansonia. His funeral services were held at the Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N. Cliff Street, Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christmas Burial in the Church of the Assumption. Burial with full military honors.
