Alberta married James C. Sarris on October 17, 1944 in Detroit and he preceded her in death in 1990.
She was employed with various auto and manufacturing firms in the accounting departments as a bookkeeper. Alberta retired from Hillsdale Tool in 1989 and spent many years enjoying life in Ocala, FL where she was known as 'The Angel Lady' because she always wore an angel pin. She was involved in many activities including playing cards (Pinochle, Cribbage and Euchre), Bingo, Mahjong, Scrabble and crossword puzzles. Alberta enjoyed reading books and was an avid bowler up until the age of 82. She had a zest for life that most would envy.
Alberta is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (David) Daniels and Rebecca (Michael) Crabb; grandchildren, Michaelyn and Eric Crabb, Jared Daniels; great granddaughter, Kaleena Daniels; sisters, Beverly Brooks and Eunice Schroeder; sister-in-law, Maxine Bowyer; special niece, Barbara (Mark) Timmington; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alberta was preceded in death by three daughters, Kathleen, Christine and Geraldine; brothers, Douglas and Calvin Bowyer.
Alberta's family will greet friends on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel. On Monday, at St. Rita Catholic Church the family will gather at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Thomas Helfrich OSFS as Presider. Interment Somerset Center Cemetery. In honor of Alberta, memorial donations may be shared with Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
