George Louis Powell, Sr., 80, of Pataskala, passed away on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at his residence
He was born on April 3, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio, a son of the late George and Dora Balsimo Powell.
George was a U.S. Navy veteran. After being honorably discharged from the service, George was employed at Albers Grocery Warehouse for 20 years and was a self employed finish carpenter for 30 years.
George was an avid golfer and fisherman.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Martha DeVore Powell and his second wife Patricia Jones Powell, and two brothers, Frank and Roger.
George is survived by his loving children, George Powell Jr., Tony (Donna) Powell, Danny (Linda) Powell, Joe Powell, Jackie (Greg) Hastilow, Rick (Paula) Jones, Vickie (Dick) Snavely, Mike (Linda) Jones, Mark (Satoko) Jones, and Jerry Jones; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings Lillian (Bill) Gordon, Mary (Jerry) Lewis, Joan Cowen, Woody (Sue) Powell, Harold (Evelyn) Powell; brother-in-law, Thomas DeVore; sister-in-law, Sarah DeVore Wallace and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Monday October 24, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street, Pataskala, Ohio 43062. Visitation will also be from 10-11am at the funeral home prior to the start of the processional to the cemetery. Funeral service will be at 12 noon on Tuesday at St. Joseph Cemetery chapel, officiated by the Rev. Mark Pierce, chaplain for Hospice of Central Ohio.
