John Thomas "J.T."Scott, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church in Gordon on Monday, 5~8 p.m. and again beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in the New Gordon Cemetery directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.
J.T. was born on August 20, 1949 in Ranger to P.J. Scott and Ola Marie (Vaughn) Scott. He retired from the US Air Force with the rank of TSgt (technical sergeant) on February 1, 1989 but continued working for the USAF as a lineman for 20 years. He also spent his time as a farmer. J.T. was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gordon.
Survivors include three sons, Clifford Scott and Maria Maxwell Scott, Bill Scott, and John Scott; two brothers, Curtis Scott and James Scott; three sisters, Jane Dixon, Martha Hopkins, and Jean Roberson; and 7 grandchildren.
The family has requested that donations be made to Meals on Wheels in Gordon, Texas.
