Spooky was my beautiful gray kitten. Miss S. (my nickname for her) was a wild little spitfire when she first found us, yeah that's right she found us. The poor little thing couldn't of been no more than 3 months old when my husband and I heard her pitful mewing for 2 days. When I finally located her and got a good look at her I figured out that she was one of the kittens that had been born at my parents' house under my dad's old lawn mower. We are still amazed that she wondered that far from her momma's side all the way to my house. She was so wild that my husband or I couldn't get close to her because she would run away or if we had her cornered she done quite a bit of hissing and growling, so we thought it was best that we left her alone and just leave her a bit of food out. And then I had this big brainstorm and decided to leave a trail of kitty crunchies leading from her hideout to the back door and into the house. I left the door open and it wasn't more than 15 minutes and she was in the house checking things out. Miss S. turned out to be one of the most friendliest and loving little kitty that I ever encountered. I can still remember how soft her fur was,it felt almost like chenille(spelling?) and I can still hear her purring when she would settle herself down beside me to take one of her many naps. The last time I saw her was when I let her out and when she didn't return when I called her I didn't really worry about it because she had done it many times before. The next day my son and I were going to walk to my parents' house for a visit and that is when we found her lying beside the road, she had been hit by a car. Miss S. was only in our lives for a short time...my family and I loved her and she will be missed.

Four Feet in Heaven

Your favorite chair is vacant now,
No eager purrs to greet me,
No softly padded paws to run
Ecstatically to meet me.

No coaxing rubs,no plaintive cry
Will say it's time for feeding-
I've put your bowl away
And all the thing you won't be needing.

But I will miss you, little friend,
For I could never measure
The happiness you brought to me,
The comfort and the pleasure.

And since God put you here to share
In earthly joy and sorrow,
I'm sure there'll be a place for you
In heaven's bright tomorrow.
