Cecil Ray Ausbon, 78, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2016 at Gilmore Merit Health Care in Amory. He was born on April 6, 1938 in Monroe County, Mississippi to the late James Kirby and Vernie Hathcock Ausbon. He attended the Nettleton schools. He was of the Baptist faith.

Cecil joined the Army at an early age. He trained at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and later went to Fort Sill in Oklahoma. He was a devoted patriot and was proud to take a stand for his country. After the Army, he drove a truck for Big Bee Metals. Cecil married Yvonne Wilemon Ausbon on April 14, 1990. He loved his family, his music and his animals. In his spare time, he would sit and play his guitar and sing. Being an outdoorsman, he love to garden, squirrel hunt and fish. He especially loved to spend time with his dog, Crickett and his chickens. Gospel music and country music were his favorite choices of music. When not outdoors, he spent time completing word search puzzles. Cecil was proud to be able to spend precious time with his grandsons.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Yvonne Wilemon Ausbon; daughter, Barbara Goggans (Mickey), Hamilton, Alabama; son, Jimmy Coggin(Angie), Tupelo; sisters: Earlene West, Jewell Michael; Mavis Yerby (Joe), all of Tupelo; grandchildren, Charles and Britton Goggans; nieces and nephews, Kenneth Ray West (Laarni), Brian West (Abby), Bonnie Henry (Billy), Terry Ausbon, Linda Taylor (Toohy), Jennifer Johnson (Klynt), Vance Yerby (Angie), Elizabeth Loden (J.D.), and Jonathan Yerby (Krista).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Clovis and Kirby Allen Ausbon.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 23, 2016 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory. Bro. Rob Westbrook will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Itawamba County, Mississippi. Pallbearers will be Charles Goggans, Britton Goggans, Joe Yerby, Vance Yerby, Jon Yerby, Mickey Goggans and Jimmy Coggin.

Visitation for Mr. Ausbon will be on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 12:00 - 1:50 PM at the funeral home.
