HAMPTON - Sergeant 1st Class (USA, RET) Curtis Lee Day, Sr., 75, peacefully transitioned on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Hampton Virginia Medical Center. He was born on September 12, 1941 in McComas, West Virginia to the late Nelson Harry Day and Annie Day (Bryson). He was a 1959 graduate of Bramwell High School and was a former member of Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army (Retired, 1980) and continued serving his country working for the Department of the Navy Yorktown Naval Weapon Station, as well as, Gates County Public School System. Curtis was a Free and Accepted Mason (Prince Hall Affiliated).

Curtis leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters, Tina Pierce (Timothy) and Elaina Ann Day; son, Curtis Day, Jr. (Angela); grandsons, Andrey D. Walters, Timothy M. Pierce, Curtis L. Day, III, and Trey M. Pierce and many other family members and friends.

A visitation will take place 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday, October 25th at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place 10am on Wednesday, October 26th at New First Baptist Church and he will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy and condolences may be extended to the Day Family at www.cookeovertonfuneralhome.com. Professional services are entrusted to T.E. Cooke- Overton Funeral Home, Inc.
