Obituary of Abraham Columbus Woods

Abraham Columbus Woods, son of John and Susanna Woods, was born in Cass County, Indiana; on June 16, 1840, and passed away at the Lucas County hoe on March 11, 1932, at the advanced age of 91 years, 8 months and 25 days. He came to Iowa when but a small lad and located in Lucas County near the Goshen Church, where he was converted and identified himself with the Goshen Baptist Church when a young man and lived a true, devoted christian life until the Master called him from the church militant to the church triumphant.

He grew in manhood in the Goshen vicinity and was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Carpenter on September 23, 1880. To their union two children were born, one son and one daughter, both dying in infancy. His wife preceded him in death 18 years. He was the last one of the family of eleven children. He leaves to mourn their loss a number of relatives and friends who always enjoyed his company and called him "Uncle Abe". Goshen Church has lost one of its almost life long members, and the community a noble christian man.

Funeral services, conducted by M.S. Clark, were held at the Goshen Churc on Saturday, March 12, and interment was made in the Goshen Cemetery. By Request his favorite song, "The Lilly of the Valley".
