Mrs. King was one of 11 children born to James A. and Emily Watts Sinclair, who married in Union Co., NC on September 13, 1865. She was the daughter of a cobbler who also worked as a farmer raising cotton and tobacco and he also did some carpenter work. Her grandparents were John and Susan Dunn Sinclair and Tom and Lee Ann Stegall Watts.

She married Virgil Aaron Bratton in Union Co., AR in 1896. He preceded her in death in 1914. She married Ed King in 1938.

She attributed her long life to clean living and living very close to the Lord. She never smoked or drank alcoholic beverages and the only make-up she ever wore was a little face powder.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, two sons, parents, and nine siblings.

She was survived by four daughters, Mrs. Annie Dorris of Monroe, Mrs. Maude Green and Mrs. Blanch Green, both of Dubach, and Mrs. Ethel Thomas of Beaumont, TX; one brother, Robert Lee "Bobby" Sinclair of El Dorado, AR; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
