On page 261, there is this item which I will quote:
780 HIRAM SPICELY lOYD HIRAM SPICELY lOYD (1/20/1826-7/10/1892), the son of Frederick and Mary Thrift Loyd, came to Walker County from Orange, Co., North Carolina. Listed in the 1850 census as a farmer, he was married to Cathrine (Catey) I. Miller, daughter of Jonathan Miller of the Duck Creek Area. Hiram and Catey had eight children: Martha, Jane Loyd Williams, Cicero, Mary Loyd Broome, Jonathan, Addie, Benjimon, and Georgia Loyd Ward, Hiram later mattied Elizabeth Lawrence Morgan, whose first husband had died in the Civil War, and they had four children: Thomas, Camilia Loyd Ward, James and Walter, Hiram and Elizabeth are buried near Rock Springs in the Lawrence burying ground. Hiram's fifth child from his first marriage was Jonathan Frederick Loyd, or Jonse as he was called. Born February 25, 1858 in Walker County, Jonse farmed in Chickamauga, managed the Gordon Lee plantation and attended the school of agriculture at the Univesity of Tennessee. On October 30, 1879 he married Sara Serpta Hicks (also Hix), daughter of Andrew and Saray Brickey Hicks of Blount County, Tennessee and later of Walker County. Sara was a skilled quilt maker, and two of her fine quilts are owned by her great-granddaughter Kathy Lloyd DiLoreto. Jonse and Sara are buried at Rock Springs Church Cemetery. They had nine children and the eldest, Muriel Joy, is credited with changing the spellin of Loyd to Lloyd. The other children were Nina Ethel Lloyd Wiggins, Maggie May, Frank Story, Sam Brice, Mary Louise Lloyd Wallin, Charlie Bell, Mabel Brickey Lloyd Nelson, and Paul Welbourn. Paul Welbourn Lloyd (6/17/1896 to 7/19/1973, was born in Chickamauga. He married Eugenia Clementine Harris, daughter of Emma Lenora Cotter and William Barclay Harris of Hamilton County, Tennessee. Paul and Clemie married December, 1919 and lived in East Lake, Tennessee. Paul worked for the power company as foreman of the underground department. In 1945 they moved back to Walker County, living in Rossville. Paul is buried at Rock Springs Church Cemetery, and Clemie lives at Asbury Acres, Maryville, Tenn. They had three children: Muriel Elizabeth, born May 31, 1921, and married to Calvin C. Jones. They have three sons, Christopher Clark, Ridgely Harris, and Charles Christopher Clark, Ridgely Harris and Charles Welbourn. The Joneses live in McLean, Virginia. Carolyn Patricia, born December 23, 1922 and married to Einer L. Nelson. They have four sons, David Lloyd, William Windell, Stephen Paul, and Carl Lenhart. The Nelsons live in Alexandria, Virginia. John William Lloyd (Bill), was born March 8, 1925, and is married to Jane Louise Moore. They have two children, Katherine Jane Lloyd DiLoreto and Michael Scott.
