DRUG, ALCOHOL COUNSELOR, 58 Nelson E. Rubin, 58, a drug and alcohol abuse counselor, died Wednesday at Kennedy Memorial Hospitals-University Medical Center/Cherry Hill. He lived in Mount Laurel and formerly lived in Willingboro.
Mr. Rubin was an alcohol and drug abuse counselor certified as a chemical dependence associate in New Jersey and working for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He worked in Cherry Hill for the last four years. Previously, he had been a senior trust accountant for more than 20 years for Chemical Bank, last working at its Moorestown branch.
He was a Vietnam War Air Force veteran and was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Bookbinder-Polsky Post 763 in Mount Holly.
He was a member and past president of Temple Har Zion in Mount Holly.
He received an associate's degree from Peirce Junior College in Philadelphia.
He is survived by his wife of four years, Irene R. Freedman Rubin and her son Jeffrey S. Baker; a son, Allen J.; and a daughter, Brenda S..
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Platt Memorial Chapels Inc., 2001 Berlin Rd., Cherry Hill. Burial will be in Crescent Burial Park, Pennsauken.
Memorial donations may be made to either the Temple Har Zion, High and Ridgeway Streets, Mount Holly, N.J. 08060; or to MICA Club, 498 Marlboro Ave., Cherry Hill, N.J. 08002.
