Mary I. (Hartwell) Weaver, 90, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at Harbour Manor in Noblesville following an extended illness.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1926, in Anderson, to Howard Berl and Addie (Kelley) Hartwell and has lived in the Alexandria area most of her lifetime. She was a graduate of Frankton High School. Mary owned and operated a beauty shop from her home for 20 + years.
Mary was a member and past president of the Alexandria Lady Elks and also a member of the Alexandria Eagles Auxiliary. True to her family background and upbringing, Mary loved to cook and enjoyed sharing her dishes with family and friends. She liked to travel and a special cruise was especially memorable.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Mike) Miller of Alexandria; son, Ted (Jennifer) Weaver of Noblesville; five grandchildren, Todd (Angie) Miller of Pendleton, Tom (Lorna) Miller of Mill Bay, British Columbia, Canada, Blake Weaver of Indianapolis, Dean Weaver of Minneapolis, and Mitchell Weaver of Noblesville; five great-grandchildren, Clayton, Colton, Clinton, Keira and Reva; sister-in-law, Eileen Shaw Luce of Alexandria; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 57 years, Howard "Nip" Weaver in 2001; four brothers, Howard Hartwell, Joe Hartwell, David Hartwell and Don Nabb; and three sisters, Lela Gaither, Maybelle Swift and Annie Sheets.
Services honoring Mary's life and legacy will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Elks Cancer Fund through the funeral home.
