Janet Butcher, 74, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2016 due to a short illness. Born in Barbour County, WV on August 14, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey T.H. Phillips and Ruth L. Hillyard Phillips Ketterman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

On December 6, 1961 she was united in marriage to James H. Butcher who preceded her in death in 2011 after 50 years of marriage.

She was a 1959 graduate of Belington High School and worked at Barberton Citizens Hospital in Barberton for 42 years, retiring in 2005. She was saved at the age of 10, loved the Lord and her church. She was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Doylestown.

She is survived by her in-laws; William Butcher, John (Harriet) Butcher, both of Akron; Judy (Kenneth) Ferguson, Belington, WV; to whom she was deeply grateful for their care and support; nephews, Stephen (Connie) and Edward (Debbie) Phillips of Belington, WV; Terry Farley of Wheeling, WV; niece, Star (Jeff) Barlow of Marlinton, WV., and great nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved stepfather, John N. Ketterman; two sisters, Mary V. (Orval) Farley and Patricia (Buck) Phillips; two nephews, Denley Farley and Richard Phillips; and sister-in-law, Paulene Butcher.

Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Rd. on Sunday, May 29, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Additional calling hours will be held at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington, WV on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Larry Poling. A graveside service will be at Crossroad Cemetery in Tacy, WV
