Son of German immigrants Angeline Hennig & Andreas "Andrew" Lenz. Brother of Emma & Otto. He married Elise Tredup on June 6th, 1900, Kane Co., IL and his brother Otto lived with the couple.

In the five years of their marriage, cut short by Charles' untimely death, the couple had three daughters: Florence Marie (Albert) Jepsen (1901-1997 MN), Rosalie (Carl R) Johnson & Gladys (Chester) Bradley. His wife & his brother Otto (who never married) raised the girls together.

Charles & Elise have a marker of their own & are buried in the Lenz family plot along with his parents & siblings. They also have an inscription on the North side of Charles' parent's monument.
