He was born on September 11, 1953 to Lyle and Mary (Schultz) Aanes in Postville, Iowa.
Bob graduated from Valley High School in Elgin, Iowa in 1972. He received his Bachelors Degree in marketing from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Bob was united in marriage with Janet Everett on September 20, 1980 at the Elgin Lutheran Church in Elgin, Iowa. Together they raised their three children.
For many years, Bob worked at Consolidated Freightway as a terminal manager, most recently was employed by John Deere.
Bob enjoyed playing golf, running and have his morning coffee at McDonalds. He was also an avid reader. Bob loved St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and UNI sports.
Most of all, Bob enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, especially their many trips to Disney and the beach.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Mary and his father-in-law, Harry Everett Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 4-7 pm at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elgin, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Elgin Lutheran Church, Elgin, Iowa with Rev. David Coffin and Rev. Dennis Hanson as the Officiants.
Burial will follow at the Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, Iowa.
